In both the Epic of Creation and Story of the Flood, the stories tell of the gods and their hierarchy. The greater gods are named and their offspring are named as well. Along with that, there are the gods' similar characteristics parallel to that of humans. Those similar characteristics include their tendency to rebel and use violence as their answer to deal with noise.
As humans, the greater Anunna-gods employ the lower gods, the Igigi-gods, to do their work for them. The Igigi-gods, with their human-like nature in response to being overworked, want to rebel and go to battle with the Anunna-gods. As a solution to the problem, the greater gods create humans to replace the Igigi-gods to do work instead. However, the clamor of the humans are too much noise for the gods. Similar to that of the Epic of Creation, like Apsu's intentions to do away with his offspring because of the noise they make, the god Enlil also plans to send a plague to destroy the humans, the gods' creation. The use of killing to deal with clamor is evident in both the stories including the gods' human-like nature of rebellion.
