The Author of P

In chapters 10 through 12 Friedman talks a great deal about the additions of the Preistly texts that we find in the Bible. The additions are indeed curious and definately emphasize the importance of Aaron, while trying to seemingly indirectly undermine Mose's role. I found the change in the scene with teh Pharoh to be particularly noteworthy. It seemed very curious that Aaron's rod not Moses's was used. Here we see not so much a degrading or belittling of Moses but rather an emphasizing of Aaron's role and indeed of his importance. Indeed as I looked over the passages that had been wrtten by P it became apparent that it was through P that we find the great importance and significance of Aaron.
