Corruption through the Bible?

Jewish priests have claimed that Moses wrote the bible for many years. But in Friedman's Who Wrote the Bible (chapter 5) he suggests that the book of dueteronomy was written specifically to support King Josiah's reformation. So is it possible that parts of this holy scripture were actually written to sway idealogies in order to support a particular politcal agenda? I think this is quite possible and probable.
The Bible has the power to penetrate parts of peoples mind and spirituality that are not normally accesible. In this sense, the bible could be used as a powerful utensil of propoganda. So, even if the motives were not necessarily negative in intention, the fact that writers of the Bible had motives other than simply spreading a history creates a different attitude regarding the bible and its authority.
Although it is important to respect the text and its power as a link back in time, it is also important to understand that the authors may have had their own personal interests and biases in mind while creating this massive work of history.
