True Warrior

People of all different cultures and religions have constantly pondered the topic of death and the idea of immortality. The Mesopotamians by no exception have also wondered about death, as their hero Gilgamesh searches for the key to immortality after he loses his dear friend Enkidu. While many characters that he encounters constantly remind him that only the gods can live forever, Gilgamesh never stops his journey for the truth until he meets Utnapishtim. Of course, Gilgamesh never gains immortality and even fails to bring back the mystical thorny plant that could make him younger, but his journey was never achieved by any other mortal, and through the search Gilgamesh transforms into a more mature and wiser warrior. I interpreted the journey itself as a rite of passage through which Gilgamesh became a worthy wise hero, even if he could not obtain immortality.
